Does It Cost Money to List My Business With Online Phone Book Resources?

I am trying to get some advertising ideas. I know that it is good to list your business in the phone book, so I was thinking of listing my business with some of the online phone book resources that are available now. I am not quite sure how this works though. Can anyone tell me whether or not this costs money to do? I definitely would like to do this on the websites where it is free, but I am not sure about doing this if it costs money. I suppose it will depend on how much it costs and how popular the website is.
