Visiting Rome for the First Time

I am going to be visiting Rome for the first time, and I am looking for some advice on where I should go and where I should stay. I am hoping that there are some good cheap hotels in Rome so that I don’t have to spend too much on a room that I will mainly just use to sleep in after a long day of sight seeing. I just need a clean and comfortable bed and a bathroom to use and I will be good to go. I want to be able to get a good night’s sleep so I will be all rested and ready to explore.
