People are going around trying to make a name for themselves at times and that means that there are dangerous situations than can arise for the people in uniform. The bullet proof vests are the part of the uniform that keep the officer safe when things happen beyond their control that put their lives in danger. That is part of the position of law enforcement that is not regarded highly, but it is a part of the job they are willing to take.
