Getting everyone in on family budgeting

Although I don’t think it’s necessary for the kids to know every little detail of our personal finances we have begun to introduce our kids to family budgeting. My husband and I have always had a household budget and then side budgets for special things like family vacations. However, we hadn’t ever let the kids in on our plans. This year my husband thought it would be a good idea to introduce budgeting to the kids and have them contribute. Now the kids only make a few dollars a week in allowance but I can’t believe how much they have learned about saving and budgeting with just a few instructions and how they have taken ownership of our next family vacation becasue everyone has contributed.
