Boot camp memories

One of the first things we learned in boot camp was how to make a bed the military way. The had not heard of fitted sheets so both top and bottom sheet had to be carefully placed over the mattress and tucked in so that no part of the sheet was sticking out from between the wire supports. The metal bunk beds we slept on were easily accessible for the inspectors to look at both the top and the bottom of the mattress. Each morning we would get up and pull sheets and blankets tight around the mattress so that it resembled more of a drum head than a bed.
