How Do You Know if a Gym’s Any Good?

By admin | June 13, 2008

What makes a gym a good one? Well, everybody has their own opinion, but I say that the best gyms aren’t fancy. Some are downright dumps. Many of them have only a bench, weight plates and a bar and are in someone’s basement or garage. No fancy chrome-plated Hydraulic Exercise Equipment. You don’t need machines to get a good workout. Machines make exercise "convenient". Not better. Your results will probably be better without the machines because you’ll learn how to work hard. That’s what gets results. Not fancy carpet or shiny machines. The people working out in better gyms wear old t-shirts and shorts because they’re there to train - not to impress anyone with their fashion sense. And you’re not breaking any rules if you grunt too loud when lifting in a good gym. The only rules are that you need to work hard. Really hard.
