By admin | April 12, 2008
Contact lenses are held in place sometimes with and sometimes without a special fluid. However, it is said to take about three weeks to get used to contact lenses.
They usually cannot be worn 24 hours a day continuously, they are not suitable for the correction of every visual defect which may be helped by other kinds of glasses, and some people cannot wear them satisfactorily because of the shape of their eyes or for medical reasons.
For example, persons whose surface blood vessels dilate in the presence of minor irritations such as dust, wind, smoke and sun. Swimming and the use of alcoholic beverages generally do not tolerate contact lenses well.
Contact lenses are more expensive than ordinary glasses. Nevertheless, they are useful for many although they should not be tried without the advice of an ophthalmologist. When thus prescribed and tolerated by the patient, corrective contact lenses can be highly recommended
