When I was Told I Had to Pay Stamp Duty and I Had No Idea What That Meant.

When I moved to the UK a month ago I had no clue what a lot of the different terms I was hearing meant. One of those came about a week ago and it was the term ” stamp duty UK “, it totally stumped me so I had to call the person who left me that message to find out what that meant. I was so embarrassed to have to do that but if I hadn’t I never would have known that stamp duty is a tax. It is mainly referred to property tax now a days though it used to be the term for a lot of different types of taxes.
