Invest in agriculture with commodity based ETF’s

By admin | January 31, 2008

Recently I was reading about the food shortages that are affecting the world. Due to adverse weather conditions and the switch by farmers to crops that can be used for biofuel production, this has resulted in a crop acreage reduction for food allocation. As a keen investor I immediately began to consider the options for investing in agricultural based products. I did a little research and discovered that there are a range of commodity based ETF’s which you can buy and sell on the US exchange. This financial instrument comprises a basket of agricultural stocks. The great thing about this product is that I am not exposed to just one stock. This offsets my risk which is always a good thing in today’s volatile markets.
