How did my page get dinged!

How in the world did my very unique keyword focused content rich page get dinged by the spiders? I did everything I could think of to avoid duplicate content, yet some how someone has something too similar to my own. Well, time to take bigger measures. I purchased a software program on line that does all sorts of things. It sifts the internet comparing my pages to others and then gives me a report. I can look at other similar pages. It also tells me how to change my page so it is not considered duplicate content by the spiders when they next come.
