Northeast Iowa holds pheasant contest
By admin | February 26, 2008
In an effort to increase northeast Iowa tourism the Department of Natural Resources has banded several rooster pheasants with a special band that is worth one hundred dollars if returned this hunting season. The DNR thinks that the state is loosing a lot of it’s out of state pheasant hunters to South Dakota where the number of birds is up. In Iowa the population has had a slight decrease due to the number of habitat acres that have been turned into corn production. The hope is that with the treasure hunt will attract hunters from other states for the fun of winning the prize.
