Freedom to express in street dance class

When I go to street dance classes I’m used to learning a routine and then repeating it and going over it until you get it as good as you possibly can.
However I went to a street dance class last week and they were encouraging us to freestyle. And that includes beginners! We learnt routines and dance moves as well of course but it was very refreshing.
Of course there were people who’d been more than once who were very comfortable with the whole affair. You could see the regulars in their own element as they began to freestyle displaying their skills.
It was a great experience and everyone looked like they enjoyed it.
